Spain

About local and advertising slots on COPE, SER and Onda Cero MW networks, most of them still remain but there are some minor changes of interest to add. When all RNE carriers are gone I will produce a new article with the updated Spanish MW List including details on local IDs.
Do not forget our two remaining ‘independent’ MW stations: Radio Popular de Bilbao – Herri Irratia on 900 kHz, and Radiolé Costa del Estrecho on 1584, this latest from radiocountry CEU (Spanish province in África).

About closures of stations…
In my opinion we lose something unique each time that a MW station closes. I know is the sign of the times, but every station lost is a step beyond to kill a free way to listen to the world. Once the analogic way is abbandoned, digital will come into the scene and then will have to pay for data and wave transportation before to hear a word. Nowadays to hear the radio we just need a small receiver. That’s all!

MW DXing is one of the most interesting challenges we can face in our hobby, and that’s because is not previsible. With a very small number of stations things will become very easy and for sure less interesting.
