The Kiribati Broadcasting & Publications Authority (BPA) has bypassed the broken 1440 AM transmitter by launching a “zero-data” online streaming service and dedicated mobile apps, though traditional over-the-air AM broadcasts remain offline. The original physical antenna was accidentally lost in September 2025 when it was struck by a vehicle, completely disabling

[I asked the BPA on 19 September via FB Messenger whether there been any progress on restoring the operation of their 1440 AM broadcasts. The cryptic response received was “Not yet” but a day later “Will update you”.
