There’s been a very odd resurgence in old information going around the web. This is to clarify the current status of Arctic 252:
The ground preparations for the antenna base were completed and the base is now in place. Sadly the weather has turned here making further work to raise the antenna mast on hold until next summer. More studio equipment was purchased and a new section of antenna mast to increase the height. A PLL board solution was also found to enable the transmitter to change frequency more easily.
Arctic is still awaiting a clear channel from Traficom a year later.
Arctic will be testing again in November on 252 kHz (dates and times will be announced on the website) on a 1.6km longwire. As per the previous tests the signal will be mostly lost into the vegetation but good audio can be received on good antennas 200km away. Carrier detects should be possible up to 700km or more.
Not the ideal set of circumstances as the signal from Algeria hits S9+20db here but it is all that Arctic can do at present.
