WATH, 970, Athens, Ohio noted today carrying Infinity Sports Network. All indications are this is a format change. They had been AdCom and doing a lot of local origination. But in November they switched to “Ho Ho Radio” (Christmas mx) & no sign of the regular local staff.
WMPO, 1390, Middleport-Pomeroy, OH, has gone silent, both their AM & the FM repeater in Athens. Their OCs are on. We may get a format change here too as they have been FSR.
Total Media has been expanding rapidly, adding to their original 3 FMs & 1 AM in Vinton & Jackson counties, buying WATH/WXTQ-FM Athens two years ago, adding WMPO/WYVK-FM, Middleport, WTHQ, 1030, Point Pleasant, WV, and the Waverly AM & FM stations in the last year. They have been advertising for a sales person & local advertising on WATH have been disappearing. I wonder if they didn’t bite off more than they couldchew. They paid 1.06 million for WATH/WXTQ.
