When this week began, sunspot AR3474 didn’t exist. Now it is 50,000 km wide with 2 dark cores bigger than Earth. The fast growing sunspot has a beta-gamma magnetic field that harbors energy for M-class solar flares. https://spaceweather.com/
A correction: The last weather forecast will be sent tomorrow November 1st, 2023 10:43 UTC and not today – as mentioned below. (Today at 1040 UTC the last ever weather report will be sent via Kalundborg 243 kHz.) Other programming will continue until transmitter close-down on December 31st.
Today powerful jamming started from Iran on 1548 kHz against Radio Farda. It having strong signal from it in Hungary, The attached file contains the recording from it at my QTH. (Székesfehérvár, Hungary)

Some more news about MW stations from North Italy, this time with at least one identification…
In the last months tests on 1449 kHz could be heard here at my location north of Milan, close to the swiss border. The station transmitted during daytime italian music, but in some days they sent the interval signal reported here: https://mediumwave.info/2023/10/03/italy-93/ (it is an old RAI interval signal). Direction finding suggested that the station was located close to Biella/Ivrea area. The tests ceased for a while, but today they are back identifying as Radio Briscola. It is a known private station irregularly transmitting from Lenta, near Biella. It can be easily identified thanks to the chime they transmit on the hour/half hour, listen to the enclosed sound file. It was heard also on 1485 and 1602 kHz, some time ago.
Another station was observed testing during september/october on 1602 kHz, again during daylight time. I could get only an azimuth, suggesting that the station is located either towards Como/Varese or Vercelli/Novara. It was neither the transmitter of radio Briscola nor the station of Centrale Milano 1575 kHz, since both were heard at the very same time on their frequencies, and have different azimuths from my location.
1575 kHz Centrale Milano: DF reports show tha the station is located south-west of Milan, as shown in the map.
1350 kHz: today, instead of the usual Z100 radio, one could listen to the programs of Gold Radio from London (ex 1548 kHz). An azimuth check confirms that this signal is local to Milano area, definitely not from UK.
I just checked back: Al Arabiya from 1900 UTC on 639 kHz continues. Tonight it was no longer dedicated radio programming, just the TV audio into which the transmission crashed at the hour. [Re. https://mediumwave.info/2023/10/28/cyprus-15/]
639 kHz on Cyprus is already active again since July [https://mediumwave.info/2023/07/06/cyprus-13/]. It carries (unless there has been a so far unnoticed change) between 1900 and 2100 UTC Al Arabiya FM, the new radio channel of the Saudi TV operation in Dubai (supposed to move in to Riyadh, but apparently that did not happen yet).
The enclosed recording from July 6 is the start of transmission. What can first be heard is the loop of “mourning music” (a piece from some crappy royalty-free production music library) that the privatized BBC World Service transmission operations, through all the changes of ownership, put straight up to programme start on audio circuits for transmissions of other customers than the BBC. It means that this 639 kHz transmission comes without any doubt from the BBC facility in Cyprus (there had been some confusing Tweeting when it started).
Al Arabiya uses it, or at least did initially so, for Sudan, as pointed out in the special promo material they broadcast during the first days. The regular service started with the programme feed that is also streamed at https://alarabiya.fm
Now the BBC: Things are muddy here in as far as they started in May new transmissions for Sudan on shortwave, confirmed as being still on air as recently as three days ago. But these slots no longer show up in frequency data for the winter season that starts tomorrow. A swift cancellation of these transmissions at this point, with the situation in Sudan not improving but to the contrary, would be surprising.
So it remains to be seen what the BBC is planning. The choice of frequency is no clue, 639 kHz is meant for North Africa but Gaza is so much south from Cyprus that this beam should cover it better than the actual Middle East beam on 720 kHz that aims almost straight eastwards. (See https://maps.app.goo.gl/47o8d9YHY5EVTn428 : 639 kHz antenna south of the building, 720 kHz antenna north of it.)
