Radio Ilam 1395 kHz (unlisted here):
IRIB’s provincial radio Ilam (usually heard on 972 + 1044) was observed operating on 1395 kHz recently since the beginning of 2026 – alongside with its main channel 972 which is still there. I caught a clear ID of Radio Ilam on this frequency (identifying itself as “FM 94 MHz – AM 972 kHz – Radio Ilam” in persian=farsi) several times: 8 Feb 2327 UTC, 13 Feb 2301 UTC, 14 Feb 2325 UTC, 17 Feb 1730 UTC, 19 Feb 2243 UTC (along with 972 – but NOT on 1044). I wonder if the transmitter formerly operating on 1044 kHz has now changed its frequency and was switched to 1395 kHz? or maybe it is a third one, running upon a test? strong signal but with some fadings. short recording of mine attached, might be provided in public and thankfully shared with others to solve this mystery.
I also wrote about it on Skywaves DX as well as I did inform the British DX club (they were aware about this, but it’s still unsure where it’s originating from)
IRIB World Service 639 kHz:
this East Azerbaijan located frequency is listed for IRIB’s kurdish and turkish language minority broadcasts until 2020 UTC on both, MWLIST and Asiawaves Net. strange enough, tonight (23 Feb) I was able to hear a coran broadcast with commentary in spanish language (“la palabra de dios”), identifying as “La voz exterior de la republica islamica Iran”, signing off at 2030 UTC straight (!) in the middle of a schedule announcement (“la programacion…”). this signal was definitely not coming from Cyprus which is never heard here due to its directional antenna pattern. not sure if this was broadcast by accident or intended, but it was still interesting to hear IRIB in Spanish on Medium Wave, since this language is not even on IRIB’s Shortwave service anymore.
VOA Persian 1548 kHz:
this US propaganda station from the Middle East towards Iran is operating on high power. strictly avoiding the abbr. “VOA”, it is identifying itself as “in sadaye amrikon” in persian=farsi (“the American Voice”) at the bottom of each hour (which is full TOTH local time in Iran due to +2.5 / +3.5 hours time shift, pls. keep that in mind). it is relaying interviews, commentary on current events and dubbed TV audio. mostly, the signal is in the clear over here, but some days, a “fire alarm” jammer or a humming noise jammer is to be heard, often off grid causing a terrible heterodyne noise / beep.
BBC WS Farsi 702 kHz:
strange enough – this 800 kW powerhouse listed for ITU Oman is never heard here since the war against Iran started. however, I have been able to catch clear IDs from Radio Sultanate of Oman on 1278, 603 and 1242 (each of them can be found back on my YT) making it all possible frequencies logged (576 is blocked by Bulgaria). all of them listed with much less power than 702 which is never there. during daytime, from the early afternoon until the late evening, when Saudi Arabia takes over, it is only IRIB’s armenian language minority service available here with s/off after the National Anthem around 20:21 or 20:23 UTC. no trance of BBC’s persian=farsi outlet here.
I hope this is valuable information to share, as there are currently NO streams of IRIB’s several outlets available upon the web from my location – all of them are down or have been blocked, as well as the websites.
