Japan

Japan’s NHK had considered in its fiscal year 2021-2023 management plan a reduction of radio (MW and FM) from three waves to two waves in fiscal year 2025.
However, the draft management plan for fiscal years 2024-2026 announced today, October 10, states that this reduction will begin in fiscal year 2026.
This management plan will be finalized by next January, and if the plan is approved as is, the radio reduction will take place in fiscal year 2026.
Specifically, Radio 2 would be eliminated and Radio 2 programming would be shifted to Radio 1 and FM.

Algeria

These two latest weeks, Algerian Chaîne 1 has been testing randomly on 153 kHz. Now they are transmitting more often and probably they will took this frequency again. They are now on air!
Additionally this transmission is favouring the Luxembourg effect as the signal is being heard mixed with weaker signal coming from Medi 1 from Nador (MRC).
Chaîne 1 first notices were posted by a few DXers on the Spanish IberiaDX eForum.

For West Europe based listeners, just a reminder:
We are losing “Country Radio” on the clear frequency of 1062 kHz sometime next week (by mid-October).
Hopefully this change will not affect Central -East Europe based listeners.
Country Radio will be available on the more difficult frequencies of 639 kHz and hopefully 954 kHz too.
