Smooth Radio Wales switchoff today.
It appears that, as planned, Smooth Wales on 1260 kHz from Farndon (the former Marcher Gold / Classic Gold Marcher / Gold North Wales and Cheshire) has closed today as of 13:00 UTC.  I’ve just tried tuning in and there is no signal or anything receivable at all. It worked perfectly well this morning when I used it as my alarm at 09:00.  There may have been the last locally-produced mid-afternoon show between 12:00 and 13:00 and then silence.

Strong winds felled the mast of Akashvani Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh) on February 21, 2025. This means that the medium wave broadcasts of the 100 kW transmitter on 756 kHz (AM) and 747 kHz (DRM) are cancelled until further notice.
According to press reports, the 168 m mast was 48 years old. This would mean that it was the original mast from which All India Radio Jagdalpur began in 1977. The original 20 kW transmitter (2×10 kW) was replaced in 1997 by an Indian made 100 kW transmitter (BEL HMB-104) and this in 2017 by a DRM-compatible 100 kW transmitter from Nautel (NX100). Currently, there are only FM broadcasts with a very limited range on 100.1 MHz (100 watts).

Radio Igloo will be on air on Saturday March 1st.
“This coming weekend, February 28-March 3, the West Coast DX-Club in Gothenburg will have a listening weekend in a cabin in the woods 25 km north of Gothenburg.
We usually produce a new Igloo programme every time we have a listening camp, but this time it will be a favourite in rerun.
On Saturday 1st March at 22.0 CET (21.00 UTC) we will broadcast a rerun of the very first Radio Igloo programme, first aired in September 2018.
The programme will be broadcast on 1629 kHz, or on a free frequency nearby.”

North Korea

The unforgettable music on 873 is from North Korea (Moranbong Band) cochannel to NHK2, and seemingly near or right on nominal frequency.  No sign of any jamming.  Heard this morning at 14:35 and through past 15:00 UTC.  They went off the air last year on January 12th, 2024 at 12:00 according to a Wikipedia search.  Another great find this morning from Asia!
