Luxembourg

Radio Luxembourg‘s famous transmission masts are about to be demolished. This decision comes after previous transmission equipment on shortwave, mediumwave and longwave was switched off years ago and most of the masts have already been destroyed. The masts in Junglinster, Luxembourg, are now also listed for demolition, despite their status as protected monuments.
Radio Luxembourg began broadcasting in 1932, and the Junglinster masts, symbolising the legendary transmitter, were inaugurated on 15 March 1933. These three original masts had a height of 180 metres and made Junglinster the most powerful long-wave transmitter in Europe at the time. In 1939, the transmitter was expanded to include shortwave.

talkSPORT has gained Ofcom’s permission to shut down seven of its 18 transmitters, reducing its national AM radio coverage to 88.9% of the UK adult population. This decision was made due to declining AM listenership and the ongoing viability of each transmitter site. The station will remain available nationally on DAB and other platforms.
The transmitter sites talkSPORT will close are; Clipstone (Nottinghamshire), Duxhurst (Surrey), Lisnagarvey (in County Antrim, Northern Ireland), Lydd (Kent), Stockton (Durham/North Yorkshire), Southwick/Brighton (West Sussex) and Rusthall (Tunbridge Wells).

Indonesia

540, RRI Bandung Pro 4, 0040 UT, Feb 16, well heard and still on the air via Kiwi SDR remote at Bandung. Mostly music and frequent IDs and singing jingle IDs; recently also noted with extensive call-in show. Checking on this Pro 4 station due to the following online info
https://philipdxinglog.blogspot.com/2025/02/Rri-Pro4-analog-suspended.html:

“. . .Effective 10th February 2025, Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) will temporarily cease PRO-4 radio stations broadcast on AM and FM frequencies nationwide, so PRO-4 will become online only radio stations. This is because of budget concern, so Radio Republik Indonesia is going to cut cost of its radio stations operation. . .

. . . PRO-1, PRO-2 and PRO-3 are not affected in this exercise, but they will reduce their transmission power, according to my friend from Indonesia.” [Perhaps this explains some of the recent changes I have observed on the Voice of Indonesia? Ron]
