600 CKSP Vancouver BC signed on today using varying power levels as it tests it’s new transmitter and antenna combiner in tandem with co-sited 980 CKNW. I don’t think it’s used full power yet. CKSP will be 50 kW day, 20 kW night into a two-tower directional array.
Using imaging slogan “Sher-E-Punjab radio” programming will be South Asian Indian languages – Punjabi and Hindu. “Sher-E-Punjab” up to now has been airing on cross-border 1550 KRPI Ferndale WA as an LMA for the past several years. It’s likely a new LMA programmer will program KRPI now that Surrey BC based “Sher-E-Punjab” has it’s own facility.

Mightier 1090 XEPRS Tijuana San Diego
Ahead of its relaunch as Sports “The Mightier 1090“, XEPRS Tijuana/San Diego has begun stunting with a loop featuring “The History of 1090”. The loop focuses on the history of the frequency discussing some of the station’s eras with Wolfman Jack, “The Soul Express”, and its first run as Sports “Mighty 1090” taking pot shots at previous management running it into the ground. It also is promoting the newly relaunched station as “the first radio station in the cloud, with no studios”.

As for domestic radio broadcast, NHK says on August 4 that they will broadcast 1 program on AM and 1 program on FM.
Now Program 1 (general) and Program 2 (cultural and educational) on AM, NHK-FM on FM. This means Program 2 on AM will be suspended and the their frequencies will be reduced. They say the exact date of the suspension will be fixed in 2021 fiscal year (April 2021 – March 2022).

Taiwan
Radio Taiwan International 1557 kHz.
In the evening and at night, in Siberia and the Far East of Russia, the medium-wave signal of Radio Taiwan International at a frequency of 1557 kHz passes well.
Now on this frequency the national RTI service broadcasts in Chinese. Until April 1, 2017, RTI station “I Love Music” (Music Interactive Network) was broadcast here. Its broadcast at 1557 kHz was discontinued and replaced by RTI Chinese. In the 2000s, the frequency was used by Family Radio.
The transmitter has a power of 300 kW and is believed to be located in Kouhu in western Taiwan.
The signal from the island was received in Ulan-Ude on July 25, 2020 at 13.59 UTC. Music was broadcast on 1557 kHz, and then the news broadcast began.
The SINPO reception was rated at 44433.

NHK to reduce radio channels.
This is talking about it’s domestic radio services:
NHK Radio 1 and NHK Radio 2, which are both nationwide mediumwave broadcasts.
NHK Radio 1 is news and light entertainment, Radio 2 is education and some foreign-language services. During a major earthquake or tsunami, Radio 2 switches exclusively to foreign-language broadcasts. (Mostly English, mirroring the second audio channel on NHK G television, but some automated warnings in also Chinese, Korean and Portuguese. Possibly some others, it’s been a while since I heard them.)
Radio 1 is mostly carried by a smaller number of more powerful transmitters, Radio 2 on a denser network of lower power transmitters, many on frequencies shared with other parts of Japan and neighboring countries.
NHK also runs an FM network which appears untouched by this proposal.
