“The actual physical installation work for WFME was performed by Tom Ray (formerly D of E for WOR) and Kurt Gorman, President of Phasetek, who between them did the installation work.  We used some hardware from the old WFME site in the Bronx, and a bit of new hardware from Phasetek, and Kurt redesigned (with a bit of help from me) the old 1530 equipment that was once used at the WPAT site when that frequency was in use there.”

Some observations during the flooding disaster in Spain (translated from Spanish):

RNE R1 Valencia, 774 kHz, with signal but no audio for the last ten minutes (21:55 HL).
Half an hour ago [21.30 UTC / Ed], a continuous tone on 774.
The rest of the stations with antennas in the area near Valencia from the Albufera (558, 1179 and 1296) normally.

Well, COPE VALENCIA 1296 has just been cut off. I was following the news of the floods on COPE and SER from the Valencian OM and suddenly the 1296 has gone silent, by the way, it’s a shame that RNE continues with the normal programming.

Yes. Indeed, COPE Valencia 1296, which I just tuned into, has no signal. The continuous tone of RNE R1 774 kHz continues.
There are around eight cuts on the A-3 from Valencia to Requena, and air and rail traffic are out of service. The area near the El Palmar antennas (among which are COPE Valencia and SER Valencia) is severely affected.
A Punt Ràdio (102.2 MHz) is offering a rescue service because the 112 number is overwhelmed. In the towns in the southern part of Valencia there are truly dramatic situations (people on the roofs of houses, on the roofs of petrol stations and shops in shopping centres). A disaster.
And indeed, Radio Nacional R5 is continuing its normal programming on 558 kHz. SER, in its sports section, is offering information on the floods.

WFME 1560 New York is now up and running with 10 kW STA power from the 930/1430 Patterson, New Jersey  site.   WFME is non-D into the N.Westernmost tower of the four.
