KOFI-1180 at 30 watts
Conditions last night were quite good with WHAM finally fading in and out much of the evening.  Cuba-1180 was in as well.  A few others showed up elsewhere on the dial, including KRWB-1410 and tentative KKAQ-1460 from Minnesota.
But the really amazing catch of the night was KOFI-1180 with its temporary 30 watts at about 4:32 pm PST.  Before KERN faded in, my only QRM was semi-local KLAY, about 40 miles south of here.  I sent a recording of the ID.to Paul Walker, asking if he was sure about the power.  An hour later, I received an interesting email confirmation from KOFI’s engineer, who was thrilled to learn I’d heard it.  He confirmed the power as 30ish watts into one of the two two towers.
Kalispell is about 360 miles from here, so this was like hearing a TIS station in terms of power vs distance.  I certainly hadn’t expected to hear KOFI again until it had boosted power to 1kw, but there it was..
