Caltanissetta, the RAI LW/SW/MW antenna will be demolished on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 23rd.
The RAI antenna on Colle Sant’Anna—barring unforeseen circumstances—will be demolished. In a few hours, we will forever lose one of the physical and visual landmarks of the Caltanissetta cityscape. We will forever lose the modern symbol of the city.

After originally planning to shut down Soft Oldies “Bob’s Memories Station750 WJTO/105.3 W287DD Bath ME in April before changing course, the estate of Bob Bittner will shut off that station on Sunday, July 27.
Unlike the originally planned shutdown in April, the group will continue to operate 1470 WLAM/97.3 W247DK Lewiston and plans to resume operations on 870 WLVP/105.1 W286DR Gorham/Portland.
Engineer/programmer Bob Perry wrote, “You can still hear Bob and the great music on Bob Bittener’s Memory Station online, which we have no plan to end. You can find out how to listen on our Websites bobsmemorystation.com and Facebook page. With a smart phone, most regular car radios now will let you listen just as if you are listening to the radio. The Stream is also available on Alexa and Siri!”

1566 KHz 3NE today received via pure skywave around 12:20 pm. One advantage with business hours daytime skywave is increased ads, traffic reports, etc. During the peak morning traffic period breakfast session around 7:00 to 9:00 AM, D layer ionisation is still quite weak, hence 1566 KHz skywave is quite loud. 1593 KHz Melbourne is also received via skywave.
I have heard detailed announcements re the 1566 KHz to 92.1 MHz conversion. I suspect that these are more common during late evening lower rating hours. Will try to record video and audio on my phone.
When 1566 KHz switches off on July 27, the dominant easy to receive signal will be 4GM ABC Gympie. That TX should continue for some years because of the older audience. Because of the similar great circle bearing from Sydney, 4GM will interfere with 1566 KHz HLAZ South Korea.

HARWICH’S LV18 light vessel has been granted an AM radio licence with people in the area being invited to tune in. The Lightvessel LV18 on Harwich Quay has been home to radio stations for more than 25 years.
It also boasts a museum covering the history of the 1960s and 1970s pirate radio stations – a history captured in the film The Boat That Rocked.
From late 2023, the LV18 has had its own permanent online radio station Radio Mi Amigo.
It has been a long-term aim of the LV18 crew to host their own AM radio station to demonstrate how they used to work and “bring history to life”.
Ofcom has now granted the vessel a low power AM licence which covers the area of the LV18, which is moored permanently on Harwich Quay.

Station manager and licensee Tony O’Neill said: “We’ve been broadcasting on temporary licences for 25 years and are pleased to announce that we have now been granted this five-year licence.
“Our long-term aim has been to remember the important part the offshore radio pirates played in Sixties pop music and this ties in with our on-board museum.
“Harwich has a very important role in this aspect of its rich maritime history.”
The medium wave station programmes will be the same as the 24/7 online station, broadcasting a mix of Sixties and Seventies music to reflecting the era of the offshore pirates.
Those in the vicinity of LV18 in Harwich can tune in on 1575kHz MW.
Radio Mi Amigo will also be holding a live weekend between August 14 and 17.
A team of DJs, many of whom were the original pirates of the airwaves, will be broadcasting live from the LV18 on 1575kHz medium wave and online at lv18radio.uk.

Peru

The Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC, awarded seven new radio frequencies in six locations in the country, aimed at expanding Peruvians’ access to new informational, educational and entertainment spaces.

Of the total frequencies granted, four correspond to Modulated Frequency (FM) broadcasting, intended for educational purposes, while the remaining three are Medium Wave (OM), of which two will be used for educational purposes and one for commercial use.

The benefited localities are: Alianza-La Unión-Pampa Hermosa (Loreto-San Martín), Camisea (Cusco), Huimbayoc-Navarro-Papaplaya-Pelejo (San Martín), Shamboyacu-Tingo de Ponaza (San Martín), Madre de Dios (Madre de Dios) and Carabaya (Puno).

These new authorizations will expand the radio offer in different areas of the country, considering that broadcasting plays a key role as a tool for development, integration and cultural preservation.
