Another CME [coronal mass ejection] is coming, but this one might miss. A magnetic filament connected to sunspot AR2882 erupted on Oct. 12th (~0200 UT). The debris is expected to pass in front of Earth on Oct. 15th. The near-miss could spark Arctic auroras, but probably no geomagnetic storm.

Little hut in a soggy Chelmsford field where the first ever radio station was born.
At exactly 7.15pm on February 14, 1922, history was made from a tiny hut in a soggy field in Essex.
In that moment, the faint crackling of a voice was broadcast across the airwaves from inside an old ex-army hut on the edge of a field in the village of Writtle, Chelmsford.
It was the birth of the first ever regular radio station, named 2MT, standing for Two-Emma-Toc, the phonetic alphabet of its time – cementing Essex in history as the official birthplace of British radio broadcasting.

Nine Radio’s 4BC has completed its planned frequency swap with sister station 4BH today.
Brisbane’s 4BC has moved up the dial to 882AM, with 4BH replacing it on 1116AM.
Nine said the move was designed to “give the audience a clearer and better listening experience”.

AM X-Band Guide for 2021-22 DX Season compiled by Tony Rogers.
With autumn once again heralding the start of the MW DX season in the northern hemisphere, here is an updated list of radio stations in the Americas currently believed to be using the extended AM band between 1610-1710 kHz.
Transmitter powers for US stations are generally around 10 kW, with many of the stations listed required to reduce power at night, often to around 1 kW.
Because this part of the AM band is relatively clear in Europe, apart from occasional pirates, it is possible to hear some of these stations overnight here in the British Isles when conditions are suitable.
This guide was compiled on 1 October 2021. Please send updates to tony@bdxc.org.uk
