WPJL Inc. Christian Preaching 1240 WPJL Raleigh NC ceased operations on Monday, July 31.
Originally WRAL and later WRNC and the predecessor of WRAL-FM and WRAL-TV, the 1kW AM was spun off in 1965 and has featured a Christian format since 1974.
In a letter to listeners, station President Dr. William Suttles wrote, “We regret to inform our listeners that WPJL CHRISTIAN RADIO for RALEIGH will discontinue our broadcasting effective July 31, 2023. We encourage you to stay in touch with your favorite ministries via the links on this web page. Most have other ways of getting their programs to you.

On August 5, Scandinavian Weekend Radio (SWR) will be on the air. As a reminder, this private Finnish station operates in the town of Virrat, in the Upper Tampere region, in the village of Liedenpohja in Finland. It is on the air only every first Saturday of the month, except January, May and September, for 24 hours on short, medium and FM. The shows start at 00h01 local time, which means YOU +3h IN summer.
The radio thus offers people interested in radio the possibility to participate in it and animate programs freely.
