From John H. Garabedian, owner of WJIB:

“.. we have recently received permission from the FCC to increase our power and hopefully by Thanksgiving our Signal should be eminently clearer with a 20 X power increase for WJIB-AM. At the same time we will be moving from 740 to 720 AM which is a much cleaner channel.
WJIB-FM 101.3 also has some major signal improvements to the signal coming, hopefully by Christmas.
Thanks to all of you loyal suburban WJIB followers for putting up with the static!”

The 590 WEZE facility in Medford, MA should be the eventual WJIB transmitter home, at least on the AM side, as the Cambridge site is expected to be sold and redeveloped (high rise condos / apartments / offices would not surprise me).
If new 720 WJIB with 5 kW from Medford equals the 2 mV/m of 590 WEZE here, probably not too much of a stretch, this will be a massive improvement from whatever 740 WJIB throws here now. V-Soft shows signals down to 0.32 mV/m and 740 WJIB doesn’t even show at that rather weak level that is insufficient for reception in built-up areas with overhead power lines.
720 will also free the signal from the daytime interference by 740 WNYH Huntington, LI, NY. This is appreciable anywhere south of Route 6 through Barnstable, Yarmouth, Dennis, and Harwich.

Finland

A christian media organisation Alfa Media Group has sent an application to start radio broadcasting to Russia from the old Pori transmitting site on 963 kHz 600 kW. Alfa Media Group is the successor of Finnish Christian Alfa Tv which went bankrupt in 2022. In an interview director Hannu Haukka says they are now planning not only religious programming but also talk oriented current affairs programming in Russian in cooperation with western broadcasters. The 600 kW transmitter is still in Pori. Its coverage area includes major cities in the western part of Russia.
