For the second day running (it’s now 06:15UT Thursday 24 April 2025) IRIB/VIRI Arabic Service was noted absent on 1224kHz mediumwave, which formerly gave a powerful signal on the Qatar remote webSDR.  The service was observed on 612kHz via a remote webSDR in Baghdad and on an online stream at this time, and from around 07:00UT also audible with a moderately strong (via Qatar) and clear signal on its scheduled 15240kHz shortwave frequency.

Armed Forces Network to reduce radio programs next month.
American Forces Network will reduce radio programming starting on May 1 to “better streamline operations,” the Department of Defense announced Monday.
Removed will be the AFN Legacy, Freedom Rock, The Blend and Joe Radio, according to a news release. Also, commercially produced podcasts will no longer be available on the audio streaming service, AFN Go.
[….]
Armed Forces Radio Services was formed on May 26, 1942, as a single channel and became Armed Forces Radio & Television Service from 1954-2009 and then AFN afterward.

Mongolia

RE: https://mediumwave.info/2025/04/17/mongolia-32/
Mongolian Radio heard on 209 KHz via the Khabarovsk SDR, & 227 KHz via the Novosibirsk SDR today (21/4) around 1400 UTC.  Carrier seen on 164 KHz via Khabarovsk SDR.

UPDATE: Not sure if I heard audio on 164 KHz as it was pretty noisy.  However, the carrier disappeared about a minute or two after 209 & 226 KHz’s carriers disappeared following closedown at 1500 UTC.

Italy

As reported by Italian radio listener Martio Artusi, Radio Marina, a mediumwave station that already broadcast on 1071 kHz for a few weeks in 2011, has come back to life.
On 29 March last, the Italian station returned to the radio scene on 1107 kHz, initially on a trial basis, transmitting a continuous loop of music and IDs from time to time. It now transmits from Vigonovo between Padua and Venice (Veneto).
Little else is known about it, although its e-address is: radiomarina-am@libero.it

Mongolia

I didn’t notice any of the LW transmitters from Mongolia [164, 209 and 227 kHz / Ed] active on either the Irkutsk or Novosibirsk SDRs at approximately 14:50 UTC today. The Khabarovsk SDR was busy so I couldn’t see any signals there.
All three frequencies were visible yesterday.

Interval signal can be heard on 227 kHz at 2200 UTC via Novosibirsk SDR.
