I haven’t seen the original email, but I imagine that ‘lowering the power’ means, in most cases, turning off one of the two transmitters that each station uses. The usual configuration is two transmitters combined. In the case of Salamanca, there are two 5 kW transmitters for R1 and another two for R5. One had already been switched off at night for months, according to what I was told shortly before leaving the company.
In short, the whole of RNE may now be broadcasting at half power at most.
