A CME IS COMING, AURORAS LIKELY: New sunspot 4549 erupted this morning, hurling a full-halo CME straight toward Earth. Forecast models predict it will arrive on Oct. 9th, possibly sparking a G2-class geomagnetic storm. The timing is perfect for aurora photographers as a nearly new Moon keeps rural skies dark. Full story @ Spaceweather.com.

Manx Radio 1368
In May 2026 the IOM regulator launched an investigation into a potential licence breach over the amount of speech content Manx Radio was broadcasting. Speech content should not generally fall below 40% of it’s total output between 0600 and 1900 BST weekdays.

Whilst I’ve not heard anything official, both 6FX “Wangki Radio” 936 Fitzroy Crossing & 6WR “Waringarri Radio” Kununurra 693 may be looking at operating on FM.

In the last Newsletter from BAI Communications, it mentions “installing FM equipment” in relation to 6FX. No further details given.
6WR has this paragraph on its website – “has applied for an FM license with the same frequency for Kununurra. This will offer music lovers better sound quality (stay tuned for more information)”.
These may also end up being supplementary licenses,  in that case they would keep the AM frequencies.

Manx Radio 1368 kHz
Seems to have stopped the daytime automated Manx Gold and is now putting out the locally presented Manx Radio.
It had been local programmes at Breakfast Time and recently also 5pm-6pm “Drive at Five”, but today it seems to be Manx Radio all day.
Nice sounding with 7.5 kHz bandwidth.
