SPECIAL WNJC 1360 CHRISTMAS DX TEST
The Courtesy Program Committee (CPC) of the NRC and IRCA wanted to get word out that WNJC 1360 Washington Township, NJ will be having a 2 all night DX tests. It’s a Christmas miracle! 🙂
12/20 01:00 – 05:00 UTC Audio DX Test (.8kw)
12/20 05:00 – 11:00 UTC Audio DX Test (5kw)
12/21 01:00 – 05:00 UTC Audio DX Test (.8kw)
12/21 05:00 – 11:00 UTC Audio DX Test (5kw)
The CPC has prepared special program content for the test, including Christmas themed jingles and liners, some “offbeat” or wacky Christmas songs, Morse Code, and Santa’s Sweep Tones.
We can’t guarantee that WNJC will be the only station playing Christmas music on 1360 during the test, but I’ll take bets that they will be the only one playing Weird Al’s “Christmas at Ground Zero.”
Reports can be sent to kc2dux@duxpond.com or for a QSL card sent at least a 4×6 SASE envelope too

If you send a report by mail, please include a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope (SASE).
Thanks to Duke Hamann and the owners of WNJC. Their extended maintenance has given us a rare opportunity to have multiple tests from the same station throughout a good portion of the DX season.

Backyard AM from Zaandam has handed in the LPAM frequency 1485 kHz and
will return to 1395 kHz on Saturday.
It is listed with the location “Zaandijk” in the list with 50 Watt:
https://radio-tv-nederland.nl/am/am.html
Their antenna can be seen here.
From their facebook page:
“Backyard AM is moving!
From Saturday we will move from 1485 kHz to 1395 kHz.
Our transmission power will also be increased in the near future from 1 to 50 Watt PEP.
A few things will have to be done to make the change of frequency technically possible,
so we may be in the air later on Saturday than usual.”

On December 22, 1920, a Christmas concert from the 110 kHz (2700 meter) arc transmitter at Künigs-Wusterhausen was organized by Hans Bredow, formerly Count von Arco’s engineer in charge of constructing the famed Nauen station and by 1920 a division director at the Mininstry of Posts, to demonstrate the potential for radio broadcasting in the nation.
In 2020, a commemorative broadcast will be conducted on that same date from 1300 to 1400 UTC (2 to 3 pm local time, 7 to 8 am CST in North America), under the name welle370 on the station’s recent mediumwave frequency of 810 kHz (370 meters). The program is also reportedly to be simulcast on 5960 kHz shortwave.
Check back in case we are able to post additional information prior to the broadcast.

From today December 16th Radio Monique is back on mediumwave in IJmuiden area on AM 918 KHz and on the internet all over the world.

The highpower transmitter of Roumoules used until a few months ago by Radio Monte-Carlo on 216 KHz could have a future with the DRM transmission system. This, briefly, is what emerged after an exchange of emails between the French DXer Christian Ghibaudo and Mr. Pennella, one of the technical managers of the Monegasque broadcaster’s website.
Original text from Radioascolto:

Radio Inter has finally returned at 918 kHz, now testing, although it is unclear whether from the site located on the Humera road, in Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid), or from the site located on the M-503 road in Villanueva del Pardillo (Madrid). The site has been renovated and a new transmitter has been installed that has a maximum power of 100 kW, although it is supposed to be able to emit with the authorized power of 20 kW.
