The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) is currently reviewing submissions around moving Perth’s ABC and commercial AM stations to FM.
With the switchover to digital TV in 2013 and closure of analog TV channels 3 and 5, up to 5 additional high-power/wide-coverage frequencies are available to convert existing radio services from AM to FM and/or to allocate new commercial, national, community or narrowcasting services.
Existing stations affected are the 3 national ABC AM services (6PB, 6WF and 6RN) and 2 commercial AM services (6IX and 6PR).
