Sports Entertainment Network has announced it has acquired the commercial AM licence, formerly 4KQ, in Brisbane.
The long held 693AM signal will become Queensland’s new home of sport, rebranded as 693 SENQ – with a sports focused format – aims to start on or around July 1, 2022, subject to completion.
With current commercial stations in place in Melbourne (1116 SEN) and Sydney (1170 SEN), the move is a major achievement in SEN’s eastern seaboard expansion.

News today that the Sports Entertainment Group has purchased Brisbane’s 4KQ for $12 million.
The former #1 AM music station in Brisbane will switch to a 24/7 sports/talk format under the SEN brand and will become 693 SENQ.
According to their announcement to the ASX, the sale is expected to complete by July 2022.
4KQ commenced operations in May 1947 on 650, originally owned by the Australian Labor Party. It moved to 693 in 1978. The station is being sold by its current owner ARN to comply with ownership limits in the Brisbane market, following ARN’s acquisition of Grant Broadcasters (former owners of 4KQ) last year.
