Longwave 234 kHz

Re. TWR on LW 234 kHz near Craiova, ROU?
Maybe we can check if 234 TWR and 1548 are the same program and the same time.

Marco to MWlist iog (2022-08-17)

That would be real big news. Nothing here in Finland except LUX yesterday at those times. I think it was an overload product. I checked for possible tx mixing products for 1548 with 1413, 999 or 621, but none
of them ends on 234 kHz. One on 243 kHz, though …

Longwave 234 kHz

Re Craiova, Romania KIWI unit, strange LW 234 kHz Grigoriopol Maiac signal outlet.

There is a lack of experience in dealing with vagrant signals, either at the broadcasting centre, or even at the amateurish KIWI equipment.
Seems an overload of the KIWI amplifier – cross-modulation – even on this August 18 morning there are some strange MW cross signals on the MW band to state at this KIWI rx equipment in Craiova Romania.
At 18.43 UT usual TWR Europe on schedule {WRTH 2022 under Moldova p#485 / or p#493 under via Slovak Rep} via Radioteletsentr (PRTC) transmitter Grigoriopol Maiac since decades on MW 1548 kHz on air.

I guess:
At past decades one time Maiac Broadcast Center also broadcast the USSR programme on long wave 236/234 kHz.
The MW 1548 kHz signal must have caused the LW feeder components in Grigoriopol Maiac center to
e x c i t e  on 17 August ?

GEOMAGNETIC STORM WATCH: NOAA forecasters have issued a geomagnetic storm watch for Aug. 18th and 19th when a series of CMEs is expected to graze Earth’s magnetic field. Individually, none of the impacts will be particularly direct or strong, but collectively they could cause a G3-class (strong) geomagnetic storm. The primary source of the CMEs, unstable sunspot AR3078, is still actively flaring today. Updates  @ Spaceweather.com.

Down Under Bandscan

Scouting through the MW band this evening, with the 20m KAZ pointing towards SA, multiple South Americans are audible in Sydney – conditions appear to be much better than most of the nights.
Well, just in case nothing else is planned for the rest of this evening.. enjoy DXing.

Yes Tomas, Tuesday was above average from the DX perspective.
I sat on 1490 and was able to confirm reception of Colombian Radio Vida Nueva on 1489.979 and Venezuelan Radio Dinamica on 1490.013, both with a religious format over a period of an hour.
