In a deal not yet filed with the FCC, Shanks Broadcasting has announced it will acquire Southern Media Interactive’s three stations and four translators along the Georgia coast. The stations will begin immediately carrying the programming currently heard on Shanks’ current “Sports Superstations” network of 1150 WXKO Fort Valley/93.1 W226BZ Macon/105.9 W290BD Montezuma, 93.1 WWKM Rochelle, and 98.3 WCEH-FM Pinehurst. That lineup includes the WNSR Nashville based Bill King Show from 7-9am, The Dan Patrick Show from 9-11am, Russ Brown and Daniel Shirley’s “Midday Sports Zone” from 11am to 1pm, Southern Sports Today’s Chuck Oliver Show from 1-3pm, and owner Bill Shanks from 3-6pm. ESPN Radio will be heard at night and weekends. All of the stations will carry the Atlanta Braves, Falcons, and Hawks. WFNS and WSFN will carry Georgia Southern University sports while the rest carry University of Georgia.
The current afternoon show on the three coastal stations comes to an end after nine years as “Three & Out” hosted by Kevin Thomas, BJ Bennett and Ben Troupe will not be retained.
