Townsquare Media turned off “CBS Sports 1360WYOS Binghamton NY on December 28.

WYOS had featured a Sports format since 2006, originally carrying ESPN Radio programming until switching to CBS Sports when that network launched in 2013. The station’s website redirects to sister News/Talk 1290 WNBF/92.1 W221EJ with a message stating, “We’re glad that you’re here and we’re happy to tell you that here is where you will now be able to keep up with not only all of the local, regional, and national sports that you love, but also community news and the issues that are important to you.”

Townsquare Binghamton GM Mary Beth Walsh told WIVT-TV that the station was not supported by local advertising. In an STA filing with the FCC, Townsquare stated “Station WYOS(AM) has been off the air since December 28, 2022 due to an auxiliary transmitter failure.  Station personnel have been working diligently to return the station to air.  In the interim, Townsquare respectfully requests special temporary authority for WYOS to remain silent.  Townsquare will promptly notify the Commission when WYOS is able to resume operations.”

The sign-off leaves iHeartMedia’s “Fox Sports 1430” WENE as the only Sports station in Binghamton. WENE had a 1.0 share in the Spring 2022 Nielsen Audio ratings, while WYOS had a 0.5 share.
