CIR SPARKS GEOMAGNETIC STORM: Earth’s magnetic field is reverberating today from the impact of a solar wind structure that many sky watchers have never heard of–a “CIR.” Short for “co-rotating interaction regions,” CIRs can spark bright auroras when they hit Earth.
