549 KHz is usually dominated by strong 2CR ABC Orange (Cumnock, NSW) at 50 kW. 2CR is a entertainment quality signal via pure ground wave during all daylight hours into NW Sydney. The Sangean PRD3 receives it well using the inbuilt ferrite rod antenna.
Last evening around 11:30 pm, the PK 65 cm circular PVC loop was tuned to peak at 549 KHz. The PRD3 by trial was placed at various distance positions to the side of the PK loop.
