DX FANZINE No. 122 – NOVEMBER 2023 IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD

I have now the pleasure to post here DX FANZINE, Edition No. 122 – of November 2023.
Among its contents:

AM 1062 CZE, Country radio ending.

Czech station Country Radio announced this since a few weeks.
Since november 1, or more precisely october 31 morning, Country radio from the 1062 kHz Zbraslav transmitter is silent.

Of course, they can be still received with better coverage from Ceske Budejovice, (954 kHz), where Country replaced the DRM tests in the end of july, and from the second transmitter, in Liblice (stredoceski kraj), (639 kHz), with a power of 5 Kw.

The latter was earlier used for years by Cesky rozhlas Dvojka.
Attached find please the ending announcement loop which was broadcast on 1062 kHz as the one and only jingle between a looped playlist of songs, (programming was different on 1062 than on the remaining frequencies).

The literal translation.:
Dear listeners,
In a very near future we will end broadcasting on this frequency.
With higher power and on a new frequency, tune in on 639 kHZ AM, Liblice

Scandinavian Weekend Radio‘s next transmission will be on Saturday November 4th on 1602 kHz MW as well as on SW and FM.
The transmitter site is located in the Virrat city, Upper Tampere Region, Liedenpohja village. Our station broadcasts mainly on the first Saturday of every month for 24 hours of short waves, medium waves and FM starting 00:01 local time, UTC +2h (Summer +3h).
The station offers an alternative for radio operations who are interested the opportunity to participate in private radio. The station is free of playlists, and it contributes to the radio hobby.

BBC News Arabic has today (1 November) announced an Emergency Radio Service for Gaza in response to the conflict in the region.

The emergency service – Gaza Daily – will broadcast vital news daily to the people of Gaza during this time of urgent need.It will provide listeners in Gaza with the latest information and developments as well as safety advice on where to access shelter, food and water supplies.

Produced in Cairo and London and broadcast on medium wave, the service will initially run one programme a day at 1500 GMT from Friday 3 November. A second daily update will be broadcast at 0500 GMT from Friday 10 November.

The BBC World Service has a history of responding to emergency situations globally. Most recently, in May 2023 during the conflict in Sudan BBC News Arabic began an emergency radio service. In February 2022, the BBC News Ukraine service began extended TV bulletins following the invasion of the country. The BBC also previously launched a service for Gaza in 2014 following a summer of conflict.

Liliane Landor, Director, BBC World Service, says: “BBC News Arabic are extremely well-placed to offer this vital service for the people of Gaza at a time of greatest need. Their expertise and specialist knowledge of the region alongside the BBC’s reputation as the most trusted news provider, means we can reach civilians in Gaza with the information they need.”

The Gaza service will be broadcast on MW 639kHz for morning and evening episodes.  (Cyprus transmitter)
