The end of an 96 years old era – Kalundborg 243 kHz has closed down on December 31st, 2023.
The transmitter went on air 13.20 UTC with the program from DR P4 Copenhagen. From 14.00-17.00 UTC with a special program telling the history of the city Kalundborg, about Valdemar Poulsen and the arch generator and about the radiostation during and after WWII.
It was followed by the Queen’s live New Years’s speech, in which she surprisingly announced her abdication. After some twenty minutes in parallel with P2 the old interval signal was audible for a last time. The transmitter was switched of at 17.36 UTC.
