Here is a photo of CKWW’s 4-tower array located on Concession Rd. 4 N. in a rural part of the town of Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada. The photo was taken March 3, 2024.
CKWW (580-AM) serves Windsor, Ont. with a 500-watt signal directed to the northeast.
CKWW was among 3 AM stations sold by Bell Media to CINA Radio Group founder and CEO Neeti P. Ray. The proposed purchase consists of CHAM and CKOC, Hamilton, and CKWW, pending approval by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission.
No word yet on a decision by the CRTC.
CKWW currently operates as an oldies station, Motor City Favourites, but no announcement as to the format if the sale gets the green light.

Saw the following from K5UJ on QRZ.com

On March 6th FCC okayed the move of Good Karma’s WMVP (ex WCFL) 1000 Chicago, from its 3 tower Downers Grove site to a location near Joliet IL where it will duplex on Newsweb’s WCPT 820 night site. The Downers Grove property which Good Karma never owned will likely be sold to a developer. WMVP is 50 KW ND day, DA night. In the heyday of Top 40 AM rock and roll, Big 10 WCFL was a constant competitor with WLS in the Chicago market, and blasted a solid signal East at night, to teenagers across the rust belt. The station’s current format is ESPN sports talk.

Excuse me for publishing this off topic post, but in the good old days of dots and dashes MW as well as SW was used (Ed).

America’s last Morse Code station.
As digital communication dominates, a quaint relic from the past clings to relevance in the heart of America. The nation’s last Morse Code station, a living museum of dots and dashes, continues to operate, preserving a once-universal language of long-distance communication. This unique establishment not only serves as a bridge to the past but also offers a poignant reminder of the relentless march of technology.

Local info on Newfoundland MW.
On some Canadian stations I have been surprised to note that it is possible to hear local audio that I didn’t previously know existed.

The CBC Newfoundland stations carry a selection of local IDs at hh:59 in the evenings. See https://groups.io/g/mwcircle/message/21134 – these IDs are not unique – the Newfoundland station IDs rotate and are common on all the NL frequencies (640, 750, 1400). The ID on 1140 (Nova Scotia) is specific.

However, I have also noticed that they carry a local one-minute weather forecast at 23:29:30. There is a forecast for several areas on Newfoundland beginning with the “St.Johns and the Avalon” area on the Newfoundland stations (640, 750, 1400). There is a different forecast at the same time on 1140 for “Cape Breton <+ two other locations I couldn’t understand>” – this one only lasts 30 seconds and is followed by a thirty-second CBC promo. These forecast seem to follow the same grouping as the IDs mentioned above.

Meanwhile, on VOCM, there are local adverts and community news. On 620 at 0018, I heard a promotion for the St. Patrick’s Day Supper at the St. Joseph’s Parish Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor. At the same time on 710 was a promo for a winter hike with the Clarenville Area Recreation Association. Again at the same time, 590 was carrying an advert for hearing loss remedies. On 570, “In Corner Brook, get ready to dive into the stories of Newfoundland and Labrador like never before. picturenl is rolling out the red carpet…”. These announcements are unique on each frequency. 870 is almost impossible at this QTH so I cannot comment. 650 seems to have something different too, but there is bad QRM from a heavily-promoted (on this forum) UK relic on 648kHz.

It is always more satisfactory to find audio that relates to a specific transmitter.
