Bermuda

News from Bermuda 1610AM.
I have tracked down the owner/operator (with a bit of luck and help from Mr. Google) of the 1610 station in Hamilton Bermuda.
Follows is an email reply, today Oct 4th, from John Stevens in Hamilton.

“Hi Martin  – no problem.
The station is run from my house at 100mw – masterzradio is just a stream I play on it as I do a show on there Saturday nights (my handle on there is DJ CanCon John – for Canadian Content (I’m originally  from Canada).  Picked 1610 as it’s away from the bulk of the rest of the MW crowd and it’s easy to get my antenna tuned up on there.  I use a Spitfire transmitter from 6V6 electronics, and a short fiberglass whip (from a MW RX antenna I had).  Sometimes the stream kicks out and I have to restart it – hence the dead air sometimes.

Glad you enjoy the music on the station.  I do my show between 0000z and 0200z (ish) on Saturday nights – there are other shows at other times and an auto-dj that runs thr rest.
Unfortunately on the island there are no active MW stations.  We had one broadcaster here (VSB) that ran 3 stations on one antenna (1450 Gold, 1160 BBC Relay and 1230 which was Christian radio) but they went off the air back in the mid 2010s after a hurricane damaged part of the transmitter building and the owner gave it up for good.  I am hoping one of these days to make it active again – I know the owner through a couple of local radio guys and would like to bring something back on air temporarily before they take the tower down.
Anyway thanks for the email and glad to know someone is interested in the SDR here (and more importantly my blistering 100mw of raw power).
Cheers!”
