Luxembourg

Radio Luxembourg‘s famous transmission masts are about to be demolished. This decision comes after previous transmission equipment on shortwave, mediumwave and longwave was switched off years ago and most of the masts have already been destroyed. The masts in Junglinster, Luxembourg, are now also listed for demolition, despite their status as protected monuments.
Radio Luxembourg began broadcasting in 1932, and the Junglinster masts, symbolising the legendary transmitter, were inaugurated on 15 March 1933. These three original masts had a height of 180 metres and made Junglinster the most powerful long-wave transmitter in Europe at the time. In 1939, the transmitter was expanded to include shortwave.
