Since last Monday 24 February, Radio La Roca Azul AM 1390 (1390 KHz) has been active again, from the town of Libertad, in the Merlo district. It should be noted that this frequency is assigned to LR11 Radio Universidad Nacional De La Plata (La Plata, Buenos Aires), currently inactive according to reports from our readers. According to our records, the station had begun broadcasting in January 2015 under the name ‘Digital Radio’, until it changed its name to the one it now goes by.
It had its studios at 1053 Aconquija Street, in the city of Libertad, with a contact telephone number: (0220) 494-2303.
Its transmitting antenna, 48 metres high, was located on 1150 Aconquija Street (Coordinates: 34°41’11.9 ‘S, 58°41’15.6 ’W), and was owned by Mr. Sergio David Mauricio. Since the restart of the transmissions of this station, only musical spaces are broadcasted, with some identifications.

Call for AM wideband recordings in UK, before AM Radio is gone

Dear colleagues,

With the recent shutdown of several AM transmitters in the UK, the decline of MW and LW broadcasting is accelerating. Notably, the legendary Droitwich LW transmitter on 198 kHz is expected to go silent in June (see e.g. posting on Jan 13th). The British AM broadcasting landscape is fading fast and may disappear entirely before long.

As previously discussed, the COHIRADIA project is dedicated to digitally preserving entire AM bands (MW, LW, also SW). This allows future generations to tune through and experience AM radio as it once was—on actual analogue receivers—even after the last transmitters have fallen silent. For more details, check out our YouTube video.

Right now, we urgently need radio enthusiasts with high-quality SDRs to help us capture broadband AM recordings in or near the UK before the British spectrum falls silent. If you’re able to assist—or know someone who can—please reach out to me hermann.scharfetter@tugraz.at

To avoid confusion: We require full wideband recordings in IQ file format (1,500 kHz for MW, ~120 kHz for LW), not audio recordings of individual stations. Ideally, these recordings should be made in a location with low QRM using a high-quality SDR with at least 12-bit resolution.

Time is critical—transmitters are shutting down rapidly, and long-distance AM reception will deteriorate in summer. Additionally, I would especially appreciate recordings made on days when Radio Caroline is transmitting from the Ross Revenge. The next scheduled broadcast dates are:

In protest of the pending tariffs to be issued by the US, nearly two dozen Corus Radio stations in Canada will dedicate Saturday, March 1 to “celebrate all things-Canadian, playing the best of Canada’s musical talent across various genres.”

The stations will feature artists such as Bryan Adams, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, Drake, Celine Dion, The Beaches, and The Tragically Hip for “Canadian Day”.
Participating stations include Classic Hits “Boom 97.3” CHBM-FM, Alternative “102.1 The Edge” CFNY-FM, and Classic Rock “Q107” CILQ-FM Toronto, CHR “Energy 95.3” CING-FM and Rock “Y108” CJXY-FM Hamilton, Alternative 99.3 CFOX and Classic Hits “Rock 101” CFMI-FM Vancouver, and CHR “Jump 106.9” CKQB-FM Ottawa.

The Junglinster and Beidweiller transmitter stations. Rest assured, contrary to the information published on many pages, the Broadcasting Center Europe has indeed received authorization to destroy antennas, but this only concerns the Beidweiller transmitter center and not the historic site of Junglinster.
The demolition work on the Beidweiller antennas should not, however, take place before the end of this year.
As for Junglinster, the classification as a historic monument unfortunately only concerns the main building and not the antennas, which are not original.
BCE is trying to oppose the classification measure, but nothing has been pronounced yet.
As for the site itself, it still has an importance for BCE for the teleport: the satellite antennas can no longer be located at the head office on the Kirchberg plateau, for urban planning reasons. As for the long wave antennas, apart from the historical and sentimental interest, they are no longer of interest to the ECB. They could possibly be used to support other modes of broadcasting or connections, provided that they are maintained. 
On the other hand, the partial or total dismantling of the pylons would allow a very profitable real estate transaction to be carried out. Developers already have projects for this part of the land. 
So nothing is decided yet to this day.
