810 WSYW IN Indianapolis had been off for about three weeks, but suddenly reappeared. Well, they went a total different direction…, they are now running full time. They are a 250 watt Daytimer who can sign on at WGY LSR. But they aren’t presently signing off.
They ID near the top of the hour, mentioning their 94.3 translator in English and a sung “Indianapolis.” SS hits.

Today I visited my former colleagues. They told me that a few days ago, an order was received to reduce the power of all OM stations. And that if complaints are received from listeners, they should be referred to the Ombudsman’s website so that they can express their dissatisfaction there…

I haven’t seen the original email, but I imagine that ‘lowering the power’ means, in most cases, turning off one of the two transmitters that each station uses. The usual configuration is two transmitters combined. In the case of Salamanca, there are two 5 kW transmitters for R1 and another two for R5. One had already been switched off at night for months, according to what I was told shortly before leaving the company.
In short, the whole of RNE may now be broadcasting at half power at most.

Last night (8th Oct 2025) ABC Maintenance on Newcastle 1233/1458/1512. TXers only went off for roughly 30secs but then resumed for tone testing. Some confusion for me at times so please forgive any errors, mainly due to high splatter from adj stations, c/c signals & natural Newcastle fades. Plus I haven’t had time to examine my captures carefully.
1512khz had tones from UTC1410 to 1425.
1233khz had tones from 1438 to 1442 & 1459 to 1502. 1233 2NC then resumed with wrong network of the BBCWS.
1458 seemed to go to carrier at 1507 ~1524 then tone testing till 1529 then again at 1533 till 1537. TXer seemed to go off air at 1543 for a brief period. Often hard to tell due to its weak signal & heavy splatter from adj 1467khz. At times I could still hear BBCWS prg on 1458 underneath, so not sure who that was. Possible that 2PNN was still on but at reduced power. 1458 resumed normal prg from 1600UTC.
Both 1512 & 1233 had periods of carrier only

Even Radio has not escaped the “extortion-related violence impacting the South Asian community”, with six bullets fired through the CJRJ front door and aimed right at the studio where talk show hosts had fortunately already left for the evening on September 29th. To date, over the last several years, News coverage indicates that the extortions have focused on the Construction Industry in Surrey and Abbotsford BC, Edmonton AB and Brampton ON. Earlier in the day, CJRJ aired a lengthy interview with the Surrey Police Chief on the extortion cases. Last year, RED FM in Calgary AB saw one of their reporters attacked and seriously injured in the station parking lot because of the reporter’s coverage of these extortions. Extortion arrests have been made in Alberta and Ontario, but not yet in British Columbia. CJRJ broadcasts primarily in Punjabi and Hindi, and imprisoned Indian gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi leads a group designated as a terrorist organization by Canada’s federal government.

An M1-class solar flare from sunspot 4236 hurled a CME into space on Oct. 3rd.
A NASA model predicts it will strike Earth on Oct. 8th.
Although it’s only a minor CME, it could spark a geomagnetic storm thanks to the Russell-McPherron effect, which links the magnetic fields of the sun and Earth around the equinoxes.
