Today our 4 AM and FM transmitters on LKB LLE [1575 kHz /Ed] have been down. The storm took the internet connection. Our transmission coordinator LB6II has restored the two program streams and we were back on the air by 1720 CET.

Gibraltar

1458 Gibraltar making an appearance at 0402 UTC / 4 OCT.
Audio clip is noisy but the “Radio Gibraltar” jingle 11 sec. in gets through well enough to establish the ID.
Consistent with propagation good for Spain, Algeria, Morocco, Canaries but not much farther north into Europe.

Radio Terrassa
Last days I could read about Radio Terrassa and its return to the frecuency 828 kHz. It is not true. Radio Terrassa (EAJ 25) disappeared years ago. We could hear Music from a couple of days from KISS FM. Certenly, It was a great surprise. Actually It is on air. How many times? I don’t know. KISS FM uses the Radio Terrassa’s antenna from years ago.

Space Weather

Earth has entered a stream of solar wind blowing faster than 700 km/s (1.6 million mph).
This is extending geomagnetic unrest for the third day in a row.
NOAA forecasters say G2-class geomagnetic storms are possible on Oct. 1st with continued auroras at high latitudes.

Two Sports AMs in Southwestern Virginia have ceased broadcasting as their owners seek future operators.

Edward Baker’s Dublin Radio turned off “ESPN Blacksburg” 810 WPIN Dublin and its translators 93.1 W226AT Christiansburg covering Blacksburg and 97.1 W246CR Christiansburg covering Pulaski and Radford. The FCC filing states, “Radio Station WPIN-AM will go dark on September 30, 2025 as the licensee has determined that it is not economically prudent to continue broadcast operations. Efforts will commence to find a buyer for WPIN-AM. So in light of the foregoing, a silent status STA is requested for six months. Inasmuch as translators W226AT and W246C rebroadcast primary station WPIN-AM, a silent status STA is also being requested for six months for these stations.”

Up the road in Roanoke, Mel Wheeler Inc. is turning off 610 WPLY Roanoke. It’s “Sports Radio” programming will continue to be heard on its translator 101.1 W266CY Roanoke via 92.3 WXLK-HD3 and 1390 WPLI/107.5 W298CN Lynchburg. Both AMs will swap call letters. Wheeler’s FCC filing notes that they are “actively exploring all available options to try and preserve the Station’s signal, including via potential sale or donation.”
