Some reports have it that Caribbean Radio Lighthouse from Antigua is off the air on 1160 kHz or is running low power. Not really. On Jan 5th around 07 UTC I had a fair signal here in Denmark from Antigua on 1160, and so I reached out to Nathan P. Owens of Caribbean Radio Lighthouse to inquire about the current status. Here is his reply:
“We’re still cleaning and making repairs. We’re running about 8kW right now on 1160 AM, but I don’t expect that we’ll get any higher. Yes, we are broadcasting 24/7. We’re doing our best to keep the current transmitter running until the new transmitter arrives. Yes, we’re using the same 212-foot (65m) ¼-wave antenna.”
