Kuresove 1278 kHz back again.
After some time of disappearence / inactivity, “Ukrainske Radio” on 1278 kHz just signed on with an empty carrier, jingle and advertising before 18 UTC this evening. Now, after the news bulletin, the weather report is currently aired. The last time when observed this signal in January, it was suffering from drop-outs (maybe due to power outage). Even today the transmitter is sometimes switching off for less than a second in the middle of a report.

720 ABC has reduced their TX power or radiation pattern significantly in preparation for the FM switchover on 23rd Feb. With reports of much weaker reception east of Perth.  No change to 810 ABC RN TX levels.

630 ON Chatham CFCO Still broadcasting in AM Stereo (as opposed to HD), possibly the last AM Stereo station in Canada. Currently testing their FM transmitter in preparation for three months of AM-FM simulcast before the shutdown of the AM transmitter.

1290 MB Winnipeg CJRC Facebook posts by the station indicate that the Punjabi and Hindi music heard during the current Test Phase will continue after the station receives its official Broadcast Certificate, which is expected sometime this month. Advertising is not allowed until the Test Phase is complete.
+ Call letters had been CFRW since January 2003, CFST since September 2000, CIFX (The Fox) since 1987, CFRW (yes, again) since 1966, and CJQM since original sign-on in November 1963.

1550 WA Ferndale KRPI A US border station with South Asian programming produced by Canadians, for Canadian listeners. Recent DX reports from the US Midwest and signal strength in Edmonton AB sound like the station is running their 50 kW day power and pattern at night. Tip from Nigel Pimblett

Closure of Radio Guernsey and Radio Jersey on medium wave/closure of 5 Live from the Bexhill transmitter.

“We are closing Radio Guernsey and Radio Jersey on MW on the 31st March 2026. This will not affect listeners who use FM, DAB, digital TV or the internet to listen.”

Why have these particular transmitters been chosen? 
We assessed the coverage of each BBC Local Radio station on FM, MW and digital radio which highlighted stations where medium wave transmitters duplicated good FM or digital radio coverage.  Following the roll-out of DAB across the Channel Islands in 2021, there is duplication between medium wave, FM and DAB.  With the ability to listen via FM, DAB, Freeview and online, medium wave transmitters are unlikely to be value for money in the longer term. 
Is the BBC switching off medium wave? 
Several services have been removed from Medium Wave over the past 10 years as the audience has moved to alternative ways of listening. Newer platforms provide an improved listening experience which medium wave cannot provide such as stereo audio. The medium wave estate will continue to be reviewed periodically to review value for money. 
Is this the start of a digital switchover for radio? 
No. This is a limited switch-off of medium wave transmitters to ensure the BBC maintains a balanced distribution portfolio, including FM. 
Does the BBC plan to remove Local Radio from FM? 
There are no plans to remove BBC Local Radio from FM.
