Rogers Closes Radio Stations in Canada.
Both 650 and 1130 in Vancouver, B.C., are daytime catches from my location north of Seattle. Since I tuned in around 1920 UTC (12:20 p.m. PDT), I’ve heard open carriers on both frequencies. I confirmed the transmitters are still on but broadcasting silence by checking the SDR in Burnaby, B.C., a Vancouver suburb.
Finally, at 1930 UTC, I caught a sudden male-voiced announcement on 1130 kHz that thanked listeners and directed them to the citynews.ca website for programming. Haven’t heard any announcements on 650 kHz. Shocking to have two stations gone on such short notice.
