Kossuth Radio will return at 00:00 local time, 15.07.2026 with temporary programming.
The temporary programming will focus on Radio Plays and Dramas. According to the announcement, they will also be able to hear audio plays whose authors or creators “did not fit into the cultural and political worldview of the power at the time.” Works whose authors did not approve of public media use will also be broadcast, but have now been given the opportunity to do so following the renewal.
According to the information, in addition to previously neglected pieces, legendary audio plays, life interviews and documentaries will also be heard in the future. The program structure will change: live news will adapt to the length of the audio plays, with the exception of the midday news. The schedule of 540 kHz maybe stays the same, no change mentioned.

After acquiring the station earlier this year as part of its purchase of Beasley Media Group’s Fort Myers stations, Fort Myers Broadcasting Company has surrendered the license of 770 WBCN North Fort Myers.

Just to let you all know that 1179kHz 3RPH Melbourne Vic AUS completely switched off at around midnight early this morning.

I would assume that 1197kHz 5RPH Adelaide SA AUS and 990kHz 6RPH Perth WA AUS switched off at their midnight times as well, though I wasn’t able to monitor that.

With 1179kHz being near the centre of the AM dial, it may be of interest to other Melbourne AM stations wanting to better position themselves for the listening audience. Years ago, 3AK took advantage like that, moving from 1503kHz to 1116kHz.
Time will tell I suppose.

ERT KOSMOS 93.6 ON 1512 KHz from Greece.
Yesterday and again tonight, I heard a Greek station on the reactivated transmitter from Chania/Souda on 1512 kHz. On both occasions, it was broadcasting an excellent programme featuring non-commercial, non-mainstream music (for example, Manu Chao). I was finally able to identify it as ERT Kosmos 93.6, rather than ERT Proto Programma as indicated on mwlist.org

Arctic 252 – latest news.

The weather in Northern Finland has been very wet delaying the antenna mast base construction. Work will be completed by the end of Autumn and the new antenna finally erected. The antenna base joint needed welding and that work was carried out and the top hat wire connections all cleaned up. Hopes are to extend the height of the antenna by adding a section.
Arctic is still awaiting a new frequency but what is urgently needed is a new oscillator board built to enable easy frequency change. If anyone has the knowledge to build one please get in touch. The crystals (2-4 MHz range) for the current board are just not available anywhere so flexible frequency change is impossible at the moment. The PLL boards originally used with these transmitters have also been impossible to find.

Pori 963 kHz remains silent!.
Alfa Media Group, which was granted a broadcasting licence for the medium wave frequency 963 kHz in 2024, has not started broadcasting; the licence has therefore expired.
The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom) confirmed this week that the licence has expired. Alfa Media Group intended to start broadcasting from a radio station in Pori.
Traficom granted the broadcasting licence for the frequency block “Pori 3” – more specifically the frequency 963 kHz – in November 2024.
Alfa Media Group was the only applicant for the frequency. Traficom had granted the company a deferral for the start of broadcasting; operations were to have commenced no later than 1 June 2026.
The company therefore did not start broadcasting within the set timeframe, and Traficom thus confirmed that the licence had expired. The project was stalled due to extensive equipment repairs needed at the old radio station and financing difficulties. Digita’s old transmitter, which had been unused for years, proved to be irreparable.

630 KHz 4QN ABC Townsville Antenna Mast Upgrade.
With ABC shortwave now gone, the current best substitute option for listeners outside Australia is 630 KHz 4QN ABC Townsville. Since the new 198 metre AGL mast and 50 kW transmitter upgrade, the signal can be heard over much of SE Asia, PNG, and many Pacific Ocean islands such as Fiji, Norfolk, Kiribati, Guam, Tuvalu, Samoa, and others.
