1179kHz Melbourne
As of checking both yesterday and today, it appears that the 1179kHz AM transmitter, formerly used by 3RPH, has finally been completely switched off. Prior to that, the transmitter has been running a continuous 24/7 humming blank carrier, since 3RPH programming ceased back on July 1, 2026.
I had previously phoned 3RPH and informed them, but they didn’t seem to understand what I was trying to explain and kept on talking about checking DAB if I wanted to listen to their programming.
I can only hope that their power bill wasn’t too high after all that time.
