Medi 1’s three towers demolished by explosives,
On October 28, 2026, the three 380-metre-tall towers belonging to the radio station Medi 1 (171 kHz) were demolished. They were located in Salouane, near Nador and the Algerian border. The demolition took place just days after the station’s longwave broadcasts were permanently shut down. The towers were brought down in complete secrecy, with no prior warning given to the local population. These antenna towers were among the tallest structures in Africa. This evening, the Radio Magazine Facebook page will publish the full history of this Franco-Moroccan station.
