Civic Media continues its expansion in Wisconsin with the purchase of Baraboo Broadcasting’s 740 WRPQ/99.7 W259BC/103.7 W279EG Baraboo WI for $400,000 plus a $13,000 brokerage fee. Civic Media will also license the seller’s Classic Hits “Max-FM” formatics, mascot, logo and service marks currently heard on the station. The Kory Hartman owned Baraboo Broadcasting retains its three LPTV’s in Baraboo.

Punjabi American Media’s “Punjabi Radio USA” has announced it has agreed to acquire 1170 KLOK San Jose CA for $2.85 million.

Currently owned by Tron Dinh Do’s KLOK Media, who had acquired the station in 2017 for $6 million, KLOK had been airing the South Asian “Mirchi” network since July 2021. KLOK operates with 50kW day and 9kW night. A Time Brokerage Agreement will take effect ahead of the sale.

Punjabi American Media owns six other stations in California including stations in Bakersfield, Fresno and Sacramento.

Estrella Media sells 1540 KZMP University Park/Dallas to Dick Witkovski’s North Texas Radio Group for $250,000. KZMP has been operating via STA with 100 watts from a rooftop antenna after Estrella Media sold its tower site in 2021 and dismantled its four tower array where it operated with 32kW day and 75 watts night. KZMP currently simulcasts “La Ranchera 106.7” KZZA Muenster.

New Spirit Revival Center Ministries sells Silent 1000 WCCD Parma/Cleveland OH to Dale Edwards’ DE Media LLC for $600,000 with $500,000 of the purchase price paid in a note due monthly over 30 years. Edwards, who owns Gospel 1460 WABQ Painesville and R&B Oldies “The Drum” 830 WKTX Cortland/Youngstown OH, intends to operate the former Gospel “Radio 1000” WCCD as a non-commercial license. An LMA will start ahead of closing.

Exclusive: iHeartMedia will be adding an eighth brand in Washington DC to start 2023 as the company has entered into an LMA with Potomac Radio Group to operate 1190 WCRW Leesburg VA starting Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

WCRW has begun running promos announcing the impending end of its Brokered Ethnic “New World Radio” programming. New WTSD call letters will take effect with the LMA. No word yet on format plans for the station.

WCRW operates with a directional 50kW daytime and 1.2kW night from northwest of Washington. The former 1200 WAGE upgraded in 2011 to serve the entire Washington market after shutting down 1190 WBIS Annapolis MD.

The LMA will last for three years with iHeart also having an exclusive option to purchase the station during the term of the agreement. iHeart acquired 1120 WUST Washington from Potomac Radio Group in 2020 for $1.2 million to serve as the Washington outlet for its “Black Information Network“.

The Seattle based Iglesia Pentecostal Vesperia del Fin has built a network of Spanish Christian stations along the west coast, but it will now bring its “Tu Familia Radio” east with the purchase of Spanish Christian “Radio Zoe1430 WOIR Homestead FL from ERJ Media for $900,000. An LMA of the station, which serves the southern portions of the Miami market, will take effect on Friday, December 16.

Tim Phillips’ Glasgow Media Group will purchase Full Service Country 1240 KLTZ/102.5 K273DB and AC “Mix 93.5” KLAN Glasgow MT from Jann Holter Berntsen’s Glasgow Broadcasting Corp. for $465,000. Phillips has served as Program Director of the stations and morning host of KLAN since 1993 and rose to General Manager in 2020.

Maury County Boosters Association sells Country 1280 WMCP/98.9 W255DK Columbia TN to Catholic operator Radio Maria, Inc. for $405,000. Radio Maria owns eleven non-commercial stations across the south and midwest.

Christian Ministries Inc. will acquire 1490 WFAD/101.1 W266CU Middlebury VT from Northeast Broadcasting for $85,000. WFAD is currently part of Northeast’s statewide AAA “The Point” network based at 104.7 WNCS Montpelier.

CRTC Ownership Change Approved for CKZW 1650 Montreal.

Gospel Media Communications received approval today to take over the assets of French language Christian station CKZW 1650 in Montreal from Radio Chalom. Total value of the transaction is $309,125.00.
It is unclear why the CRTC still lists the station’s call letters as CJRS. They were changed to CKZW in Spring 2019 and are reflected as such in the I/C database.

The Christopher Brochon led Heart of Virginia Communications will relaunch 870 WFLO Farmville VA on Thursday, December 1.

Heart of Virginia Communications acquired WFLO from Educational Media Foundation in July for $75,000. Brochon was previously Station Manager and Director of Operations for WFLO and 95.7 WFLO-FM until the closing of the sale of the stations from Colonial Broadcasting Company in 2021 for $750,000.

The AM daytimer will relaunch with a full service lineup including music programming with multiple genres, local news, and a return of the station’s “Call Flo” talk show.

The Bois Forte Band of Chippewa have found a buyer for Variety “End of the Road Radio1450 WELY and 94.5 WELY-FM Ely MN months after the tribe intended to shut the stations down.

Mike Oberg’s Zoe Communications will acquire the stations for $130,000. However, the stations will go silent on Thursday, December 1 until the closing of the license transfers as the company will need to relocate the station’s studios out of the building being retained by the tribe.

The Bois Forte had intended to shut down the stations on June 1 after losing $1.7 million in the 17 years they owned them. The sign-offs were delayed to September 1 and then December 1 as they sought a buyer for the properties.

Zoe owns eleven stations in Northwestern Wisconsin with three in the process of being sold to Civic Media.
