Lightner Communications has expanded to Johnstown PA with the purchase of 101.3 W267CM Johnstown from Ted Schober’s ZIP2 LLC. While terms of that sale were not included in the sale filing, it does note that the translator’s facilities will be modified to fit within the contours of Lightner’s 1400 WYUP Loretto PA. WYUP serves as the originating station for Variety Hits “107.1 Jack-FM” W296ED Altoona, while is also simulcast on 1260 WPHB Phillipsburg/104.3 W282CV State College.
In the interim before the translator facility move, W267CM and current parent 850 WKGE Johnstown have dropped their former Classic Hits format and are now simulcasting WYUP/WPHB stretching the “Jack-FM” brand across all three markets.

The Zionsville IN Board of Zoning Appeals will meet tonight to vote on an application by Brian Walsh’s Blessed Beginnings Broadcasting to construct a new six tower array for what is now Emmis’ silent 1070 WFNI Indianapolis, which he would acquire.
The application requests special exemption and new variance on behalf of BBB to rezone the land from agricultural use to commercial in order to construct the towers. Walsh tells the Lebanon Reporter that should it be granted, he intends to have the station operating from the new facility by next year and plans on replicating the Oldies format currently heard on his 1450 WIOE/104.3 W282CH Fort Wayne and 101.1 WIOE-FM Warsaw IN. Its morning show will be simulcast on WFNI, while the remainder of the programming will originate from Indianapolis including local news and sports coverage.
In addition to WIOE, Walsh owns Talk 1250 WGL/105.5 W288EI Fort Wayne.

The IFT-8 auction got underway today (March 29th), and bids were received on 94 of the 319 lots
up for auction — 81 FM and 13 AM.
The AM options with most interest are: 1250kHz Querétaro; 1470kHz Pozo de Parras–Irapuato
Gto.; 610kHz Fresnillo–Zacatecas; and 1360kHz Atotonilco de Tula Hgo.
Considering that the auction made available 234 FM and 85 AM frequencies, there are not many
bids. 34 percent of the FM lots have had bids placed so far in the auction, while on the AM side just
15 percent of lots attracted at least one bid today. This tracks with the notably decreased interest
compared to IFT-4 five years ago.
