KOMO was originally KJR and vice-versa.  The change was made on April 18, 1944 according to an unusual note in the “history cards” maintained in the FCC’s CDBS.
I have not ever heard an explanation of the rationale for this.  KJR – 1000 was NBC Blue Network, KOMO – 950 was NBC Red Network, both owned then by Fisher’s Blend, the flour manufacturer.
