Cyprus

In recent days, the former BBC relay station in Cyprus on 639 kHz has been transmitting a program in Arabic by ‘Al Arabiya FM‘ radio between the hours of 18:00 and 22:00 GMT.
It is possible that the broadcast is intended for listeners in Sudan, which is currently undergoing an attempted military coup.
I have no idea where the broadcasts come from..
The station has a relay in Saudi Arabia on FM. It is clear from the content of the news that this is a pro-Western station.

Al-Arabiya was launched in 2003 from the Media City in Dubai. Al Arabiya FM follow the latest news and developments on the Arab and international scene without delay and delay with the investigation of the truth.
The most prominent feature of the Arab world is its continued and continuous coverage of events and developments in the Arab and international arena, as well as the assassination of Hariri, and was chosen by US President Barack Obama to be the first channel to broadcast his dialogue to the world as President of the United States of America.

Looks like 1701 Islamic Voice – Melbourne has been off the air for at least a couple of days, maybe longer. I noticed the carrier not showing up lately but I put it down to propagation to Vic, or lack thereof. However, checking several Kiwi SDRs in the Melbourne region don’t seem to reveal them either.
VoC and Brisvaani are still going strong on 1701 though.

This morning was rather interesting, with some good signals from NZ and OZ in the upper portion of the band. It also helped that KLFE 1590 was off, that opened up 1593 and I had a chance to hear about 2 or 3 DU stations mixing. Coast being one, judging by the offset. Not too familiar with the rest of them since that frequency is normally 100% blocked for me.

Re. https://mediumwave.info/2023/07/04/mongolia-12/
227 came back on at 22:25 UTC last night. I did not see 164 come back on although it was present when I checked again at 14:50 UTC just before close of broadcasting.
164 was not audible. 209 was audible however 227 was far better.

According to the website https://www.asiawaves.net/longwave-radio.htm the 164 transmitter was installed in 1984, 227 in 1978 and the 209 transmitters in 1979 and 1982. It is not unreasonable to assume that there are technical issues.
The Oglii transmitter, also on 209, was commissioned in 1965 and upgraded with a new rig from Transradio in 2012. If this transmitter is off, as suspected, then it may be the case that there are other issues with the transmitter and/or associated hardware itself of difficulty in obtaining spares or backup support from whatever is left of Transradio.

On 1314 kHz Bergen Kringkaster broadcasts all week at 05:00-22:15 UTC.

However, Wednesdays 17.00-19.00 it is Laksevåg Kringkaster, which uses the frequency 1314 kHz. During the summer period, the program mostly consists of rebroadcasts. You can read more about the station here lakri.no.
The broadcast hours on 1314 can also be used by others (except Wednesdays 17.00-19.00) for a sum of 20 NOK per hour. You just have to make an agreement with Foreningen Bergen Kringkaster and get a
permission from the Norwegian Media Authority.
There is a transmission break on 1314 kHz every Sunday at 09:00-13:00 UTC.
The transmitting power is 700 Watts, but the transmitter can be difficult to catch, because Romania and Spain dominate most of the time on the frequency.

New Zealand

There is often a positive side to MW transmitters closing, or greatly reducing power. Last evening around 2230 LT during enhanced MW propagation to New Zealand, 909 KHz Napier / Hastings Radio Rhema (5 kW) was noted with modern music, and OM speaker into Sydney. The signal was weak. Not yet known why this gets out poorly into eastern Australia. Most evenings 909 KHz Napier isn’t there on the 26 cm diameter PK loop. The 101 cm side length box loop will be soon tested on 909 KHz.
