Radio Warrington closing on AM.
I had a note today that 1332 Radio Warrington is closing down their 1332 am service on Thursday this week. The station will continue to Broadcast locally on DAB. And online.

Other closures this week.
It appears 1476 Carillon Radio Leicestershire have already switched off earlier this week. The LPAM at Loughborough and Coalville to close by Sunday.
Flame 1521 on the Wirral is closing on Easter Sunday.

SEVERE GEOMAGNETIC STORM: A CME struck Earth’s magnetic field yesterday, sparking a severe geomagnetic storm–the strongest since Sept. 2017. Sky watchers in Europe and the USA missed seeing a magnificent display of auroras by a matter of hours, a result of the CME’s poor timing for Western sky watchers. We might get a second chance later this week if giant sunspot AR3615 explodes again. Full story @ Spaceweather.com.

Checking on webSDRs in the Leicestershire area it seems Carillon Wellbeing Radio has already switched off its 1476kHz transmitter, although they are still streaming programming via their website.
The station is due to close down completely by the end of the month anyway.

In further news, in what is described as a “relatively quick and straightforward [administrative?] process” Leicester-based company Soar Sound is hoping to take over Carillon’s licence and broadcast on 1476kHz
itself.

Saga Communications has requested the cancellation of the license of 930 KBAI Bellingham WA.
The station’s Classic Hits “98.9 K-BAY” format will continue on 98.9 K255DC and 92.9 KISM-HD3 Bellingham. The station had flipped from Liberal Talk to Classic Hits in August 2017.
KBAI operated with 1kW day and 500 watts night from a two tower array just north of Bellingham. Originally licensed to Bellingham-Ferndale, the station originally signed on in 1958 as KENY. It was best known for its 30+ year run at KBKW from 1968 until 1999 most of which featured Country music programming.

Translated from Spanish:

Apparently there are serious indications that this Colombian station is turned off or inactive at 1510 AM but operating at 97.1 FM in the municipality of San Luis de Gaceno (Boyacá). I leave you the task of validating this information.

Spring bandscan 2024.
Unlike last night, which was rainy; tonight was dry, if cool and windy. I got outside around 2140Z.

LW was quick: Allouis, BBC R.4, Poland and what i believe was a weak peep from Gufuskálar.

Last night I had to make do with scanning through the Panny tranny’s memories on MW. The band sounded quite lively with even BBC R. Wales audible on 882 kHz in the bedroom window.
The band was weaker tonight with nothing but a single Romanian (1179 kHz) above 1100 kHz. Talksport (1053 and 1089) was the strongest station. As usual, 1053 kHz was the stronger signal, most likely because it always has local interference on it (grmbl!).
