After several months of inactivity, Radio Libre (AM 890 kHz) returned to the airwaves, broadcasting its usual programming, which had been available only via streaming since it went off the air.
Apparently, the station has moved its studios, which were located on Avenida Cnel. Ramón L. Falcón 6219 in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, as did its ‘sister’ station LA 810 Radio (810 KHz).
Both stations are operated by the company ‘Aires de Radio S.R.L.’, under the general management of Nelson Ernesto Figueira and Patricia Noemí Calicchio. Radio Libre now announces two new telephone numbers: (11) 3722-9091 and 4314-0965, maintaining its email address: administracion@am890.ar, and its website: www.radio890.ar. We do not yet have confirmation of the current location of its new studios.

Arctic Radio
Yesterday marked the first broadcast of audio material on 252 kHz LW.
Transmitter is currently running at 600w carrier, 750-800W peak modulation. It will get better over time. Range is only 150km until we get the proper antenna up in September.
So that’s it, LW is back in Finland after 32 years. Those who said it cannot be done are proven wrong!

There is a second application for an MW license in Austria with the RTR. The assigned frequency will be 1143 kHz. The station will broadcast from the Upper Austria area. The test broadcast has been approved by the RTR (Austrian licensing authority) and is scheduled for August 27th at midnight to August 29th
at midnight. The operator is expected to be on the frequency from approximately 8 a.m. on August 27th and will be on air until midnight. The exact broadcast time on the following two days has not yet been
determined.
The test will consist of a text loop and an identification signal. At my suggestion, there may also be a special QSL for the test. Since the contact does not want to be made public yet, I am offering to arrange this.
Anyone who listens to the station can send me the report, and I will then reliably forward it.

If a license is actually granted, the contact will open and provide his contact information. I was also informed that there will also be special night broadcasts with programming for DXers.
The selected frequency is practically empty except for two Spanish 5kW stations.
If the license application is successful, Austria will then have two licensed MW stations. Museumsradio from Bad Ischl is the allready second one on 1476 kHz.

A new AM radio station has been reported since Saturday, 9 August, on the 680 KHz frequency, identifying itself as Radio Chaco Argentina ‘La Radio de los Provincianos’ (The Radio of the Provincials). It broadcasts musical programming, currently featuring only chamamé music, typical of that province in the northeast of our country, with several identifications by an announcer such as: ‘The new radio station, Radio Chaco, your radio station.’ It also announces the contact telephone number (11) 4263-2645, which is why it would be broadcasting from the town of Monte Grande, Esteban Echeverría District, Province of Buenos Aires. We will provide more information about this station shortly. We appreciate the collaboration of our friend ‘Gonza’ who told us that he heard this new station for the first time.

Arctic Radio – Transmitter test day does it work? 252 kHz LW

“The Nautel ND2000 transmitter is now ready, the correct crystal oscillators have been found and configuration for 252 kHz has been done. Audio bandwidth has been increased. The NX2000TUB antenna tuner will be used with the modified beacon antenna.
The setting up of the antenna has been delayed but hopefully work will be carried out very soon.
Lately the amount of emails to the station asking for start dates has been too many to reply to but advance notice will be given for every transmission even testing.
252 kHz is not ideal given that Algeria is so strong but at present this is all the station has on LW. Permission for another frequency has to be applied for by the radio authority in Finland to the ITU so it’s not a simple process to do this.
In all work has been slow as there is no help on the ground to do things.”
