An AM station in Canada has come back on air…..

Akash Broadcasting has launched Connect AM 1290 in Winnipeg MB, 10kW. Programming is Punjabi. Currently there is a test loop.

The stations calls remain CFRW and it broadcasts with 10kWs. CFRW was the former TSN/Funny outlet that was sold by Bell.

Radio Igloo was on air and audible today on 1620 kHz at my QTH in southern Denmark at least as early as 18:44 UTC with ID and Christmas songs.
Interval signal at 19:00, then ID and anns in English by YL. Reception fair but with some fading.

WRDZ-1300 La Grange, Illinois, is back on the air after a two-year absence. The station was reported in late November and I tried a few different nights and never heard them. I tuned in 12/8 midday and there they were with the Rebel Radio hard rock music format. Today, 12/9, I listened in the afternoon and heard them cut power or go off at 1531 CST, leaving the powerful WNQM in Nashville. The temporary authorization allows for only 10 watts at night, and even though I am within four miles of their new site I can’t tell if they are using that. WRDZ is using the former WSBC-1240 tower on Belmont Avenue in Chicago. They lost their transmitter site southwest of the city and went off the air in November 2023.

1350 Radio Libertad, Cuba
MWList shows 1350 R Libertad as off the air.  We were at Long Key last week, and it was there, about 11 seconds ahead of the stream.  It was maybe even with R Cd del Mar; but a turn of the Superadio II & loop had it.  That was maybe around 2000 UTC Nov 28.
