The following is a list of some news from radio stations operating in AM, with new developments in recent months.
For several weeks now, RADIO MAGNA (680 KHz), a station with studios in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and a transmitter plant in Villa Martelli, in the Vicente López district, has not been reported as active. During the last few years, this station has been heard irregularly, and it is not the first time that it has been off the air, mostly due to technical problems. This time, however, its programming cannot be heard on its website (www.am680radiomagna.com.ar), nor on other digital platforms, which suggests that the station has not been broadcasting its programmes for weeks.
Another station that has been off the air since the beginning of 2025 is LRI208 ESTACIÓN 820 / RADIO MARÍA ARGENTINA (820 KHz), a station operated by the Bishopric of Lomas de Zamora and with transmitting plant in Glew, Almirante Brown district, for which the reasons for going off the air are unknown. As a result of this circumstance, it is no longer possible to listen to this network of Catholic radio stations in the AMBA area, since the station based in the La Matanza district on 1150 KHz (Ex Radio Sagrada Familia), operated by the Bishopric of San Justo, has been off the air for some time.
The irregularity of LRI223 RADIO REBELDE (RBD), the station now operating on its new frequency of 1570 KHz, awarded to the ‘Cooperativa de Trabajo Radio Rebelde Limitada’ in September 2022, is also striking. Since the station has been technically enabled to start its regular broadcasts, it has been characterised by the ‘irregularity’ of its transmissions, to the point of not being heard in activity for several days to date, but, unlike what happens with Radio Magna, RADIO REBELDE is active through the Web (www.radiorebelde.ar) and other platforms. What is undoubtedly striking is that in their social networks they continue to mention their previous frequency of 740 KHz, long inactive on that frequency, although the radiating mast is still installed on the roof of a factory in Valentín Alsina, much more imposing than their new tower now located on Avenida Dr. Gilberto Elizalde on the corner of Avenida Olimpo in the town of Ingeniero Budge, Lomas de Zamora (CG: 34°44’20.2 ‘S, 58°29’19.7 ’W).
It should also be noted that on 1300 KHz the carrier signal of RADIO LA SALADA (RLS) has been inactive for months with audio on that frequency, even though its programming can still be heard through its website (www.am1300.com.ar), which is an incredible waste of money in electricity consumption, but in the end, they provide the money…
A recent development is that RADIO ADONAI (1480 KHz), a Christian religious radio station operating from the town of Monte Grande (formerly Radio Sintonía), now has a new website where you can listen to its daily output: <www.adonai1480.com.ar> and a new WPP contact number: (11) 5133-05623.
